abstract
Simultaneous rhegmatogenous retinal detachment (RRD) is rare and occurs usually in phakic eyes. We report a case of a 44 years old lady with moderate myopia who presented with unilateral blurring of vision for 1 month. It was not associated with flashes or floaters and there was no history of ocular trauma either. On examination, the affected right eye had retinal detachment from 5-9 o’clock with macula off, while the left eye had shallow retinal detachment with macula on. The right eye was treated with scleral buckling and cryotherapy while the left eye was treated with laser retinopexy. There were multiple retinal holes at the area of the detachment in as well as lattice degeneration in both eyes. Scleral buckling is the preferred choice of surgery in the right RRD for better outcomes.
