KNOWLEDGE AND ATTITUDE REGARDING HIV AMONG UNISHAMS STUDENTS

abstract
By specifically targeting T-cells, the virus that causes AIDS undermines the immune system, rendering them incapable of combating even minor infections. Primarily, it is transmitted via vaginal and rectal secretions, blood, sperm, and breast milk. Efforts to increase understanding and awareness on HIV/AIDS must be implemented immediately, especially among university students in Malaysia, as this is a global concern. The findings of a cross-sectional study conducted at Sultan Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah International Islamic University (UniSHAMS) on 351 students suggest that the majority of respondents possess a satisfactory comprehension of HIV (99.7 percent). Nevertheless, a notable disparity in understanding can be observed between pupils enrolled in the Kulliyyah of Medicine and Health Sciences and those enrolled in other faculties (p
